Validation
Figure 46: Validation element
This element describes some mechanism, with accompanying date information, which might be used by any function accessing the SWID content that can enable the validation of the tag. The function could exist within the software that is itself tagged, or some other external mechanism.
ISO/IEC 19770-2 extended identity elements
Extended information is provided in the software tag to allow the inclusion of additional values that have not been predefined. Extended information must be in an XML format and should include an XSD reference that can be used to validate the information in this section.
Unlike the mandatory and optional sections, there may be multiple extended sections in a tag. Each extended section can be available for only one specific owner. For example, a software publisher may include extended information that they want included for their own discovery tool. An end-user organisation may want to include extended information related to their overall software life cycle policies and procedures.
